Responsibilities:

Safety

  • Develop organizational safety objectives and create actions plans to meet those objectives.
  • Maintain, review and report on safety performance, identifying opportunities for improvement along with implementing preventative and corrective actions, as required.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop, prepare, and implement enterprise safety policies, programs and procedures focused on minimizing risk, protecting health and safety of associates and mitigating workplace hazards.
  • Identify ongoing safety training needs with regard to emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Champion and promote a safety culture focused on incident prevention and regulatory compliance through participation and leadership on all committees that promotes safety within our programs.
  • Establish a safety committee structure, practice, and protocol. Provide ongoing leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to organizational safety committees.

Compliance

  • Partner with the legal and compliance department to create policies that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, and rules.
  • Ensure the company is meeting or exceeding obligations under the relevant Occupational Health & Safety legislation, such as ongoing safety education, record keeping, reporting, hazard identification and elimination.
  • Reviews, responds, and acts as primary point of contact for Occupational Health and Safety inquiries.
  • Develops, implements, and maintain systems and records that provide for proper evaluation, control, and documentation of assigned function.
  • Continuously review and evaluate internal operating processes, facilities, systems, develops and implements changes and enhancements as appropriate. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Risk Management

  • Identify exposure and assess liability through evaluation of claim loss statistics and trends; generate management reports for legal, operations and executive leadership.  
  • Advises the organization on any potential risks to the profitability or to the company.  Make proposals on solutions, improvements, and prevention steps for risk mitigation.
  • Analyze, review, and manage high exposure, and/or catastrophic claims and litigation. 
  • Reduce worker’s compensation claims costs to achieve cost objectives for each business unit.
  • Provide detailed monthly reviews, highlighting incidents and improvements going forward for that business unit and their leaders.

Leadership

  • Manages the supervision of workers compensation and safety department personnel, which includes talent selection, work allocation, training, development, and performance.
  • Motivate, coach, inspire, motivate, and mentor employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Establish departmental goals and Key Performance Indicators used to measure associate and department performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management/Development, Organizational Development, Instructional Technology or equivalent combination of education and related experience required
  • 5+ years of experience in safety management for multiple business groups or multi-unit, national organizations, occupational health and safety programs, loss control or related field.
