St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner but, how much do you really know about this holiday? For example, did you know that it began as a religious feast to honor the patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick? Or, did you know that Saint Patrick was not actually Irish… he was British! Even so, the Irish people cherished him and have an old legend that he drove all of the snakes out of Ireland in the 400s. Today, Saint Patrick’s memory is usually celebrated with a feast of corned beef and cabbage but, there are also new traditions such as parades, dancing and wearing as much green as possible. Some cities across the U.S. are so involved with St. Patrick’s Day that they dye their rivers green! To get yourself geared up for the festive holiday, keep reading!
